Before taking busulfan tablets, you should know that the immune system is suppressed, so you may have trouble fighting infections. In addition, the tablet busulfan may put you at higher risk for developing a severe form of anemia known as aplastic anemia. Certain drugs, such as acetaminophen, metronidazole and itraconazole may increase the risk of serious side effects from the tablets busulfan.
